If your timing is right, you might consider visiting Château Margaux for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of being a member of the team harvesting some of the best-known grapes in Bordeaux. (There's debate as to whether these are actually the best. Margaux has history and name recognition. Therefore, its wines command high prices.)
The major wine producing countries associated with the old world are the countries of Europe. There’s evidence that these counties have been creating wine for thousands of years. Throughout the ages, the history of wine production has been entangled with the political and sociological development each country. Things change when the EU when the European union was created just after World War II. This political partnership between 27 democratic European countries was designed to bring peace to the region. In the wind world the European Union organized a wine classification system consisting of two tiers. Tier 1 one is table wine. Tier two is quality wine. The concept of quality one based on geographical origin approach of wine produced from a specific case place or terroir.
When we refer to new world wines, we primarily mean the wines of North America, South America (Argentina and Chile), Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. The wines produced in the US and Canada have gained in stature over the last half century. The four top producing states in the US are California, Washington State, New York, and Oregon. In California, there are approximately 2450 wineries that produce 90% of all the wine in the US. The significant wine producing countries in the rest of the New World are perceived as dynamic with enormous potential. They are continuing to gain incredible popularity throughout the world overall these new wines these New World wines are reasonably priced to provide value.
One of the best ways to learn about wine is to mix reading and trying. There's no way to become successful in any aspect of the wine industry without tasting the wines you're studying. The combination not only allows you to wow your friend when you can tell one wine from another simply by taste but to create an "experience" when pairing wines with foods and elevating the taste of both.
